Psychology
This course covers the history of Psychology and the methods of research and statistical evaluation in the field. Student will demonstrate an understanding of the human lifespan, from infancy to old age and the affects of both heredity and the environment on the development of personality. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the nervous system as it is related to psychological functions and behavior. Students will understand the relationship between sensation and perception, and the affects that altered states of consciousness have on the body and mind. Students will be able to identify and explain various theories of learning and cognition, motivation and emotion, and personality. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the affects and coping strategies of stress, as well as the psychological disorders that can relate to normal and abnormal levels of stress.
